Global M&A Insurance Index 2016

06 September 2016

Our Global Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Insurance Index provides up to date benchmarking data on M&A insurance.

In this 2016 half year update we analyse trends in policy use, look at how the expansion of the M&A insurance marketplace continues to influence terms and consider what the impact has been of the UK’s EU referendum vote.

Uncertainty leading to and immediately after the UK’s decision to leave the EU impacted M&A activity. This had a corresponding impact in the use of M&A insurance.

This was most keenly felt in the real estate sector where use of Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) insurance was down 20% versus H1 2015.

However, whilst investors were more cautious in the UK, we are pleased to report that deal volume for the first 6 months of 2016 was up 23.6% across the JLT network as compared to the same period last year.
