Various different events around the world occur on a daily basis. Many of which wouldn’t take place without the main performers. Non-Appearance insurance can protect you for any financial loss.

Whether you are the performer, promoter, agent or venue, you have the ability to cover your costs and expenses or gross revenue if your event is cancelled, abandoned, postponed, interrupted, curtailed or relocated if you or your performer is unable to fulfil the obligations. Extensions such as simultaneous non-appearance whereby a percentage of a larger group, for example orchestras, sport teams choirs etc. are unable to fulfil obligations can be added if required.

Content production

Accidental Damage

One of our clients was filming a scene that used lasers in order to look like a rave. However, the lasers destroyed the silicone membranes of all four of their 3D cameras they were using. On top of this, there are only four of these special cameras in the world. This meant that there was a delay with filming and equipment damage. Insurers argued that it was inevitable that the cameras were going to be damaged by the lasers and therefore they should not pay. Even though this would usually fit outside of the insurance, our entertainment team managed to provide enough evidence and persuaded the insurers and the market that they needed to cover the cost of the unforeseen delay and accidental damage. Resulting in the client not having to pay a penny.

Filming delay

A documentary was being filmed on location in Botswana. Whilst filming, Boris the silverback gorilla seemed rather interested in the cameras. Much to everyone’s surprise, he picked up a tree and threw it at one of the cameras.

Our entertainment team ensured that the insurer paid for the cost of repair to the camera and also for the extra expense arising out of the delay caused to the filming schedule. The delay was caused by the time it took to deliver the replacement camera to the remote filming location.

Our entertainment team in partnership with the insurance market are radically overhauling traditional TV production insurance to recognise the very real emerging risks to producers, designed to protect the value of long term investment in content production. The way in which content is being commissioned can now differ from one project to the next potentially exposing independent production companies to increased financial contractual indemnities including those where distributors will only meet the settlement of the final budget on delivery of the finished film. The behaviour of cast and crew is a very real threat and this insurance can mitigate the risk of a film not making its delivery date by responding to costs for recasting and reshooting.
