Olle Svensson 

Executive Aide, JLT Specialty

After my undergraduate studies in Lund, Sweden, I continued my academic path with a Masters in Finance at Copenhagen Business School. A year before graduation, I applied for an internship position at JLT in Stockholm where I had my first experience in the world of insurance broking which whetted my appetite to pursue a professional career within insurance.

I later on was fortunate enough to continue my career at JLT and in 2012 was accepted for the graduate programme in London, where I started to work as an executive aide to a senior director.  As executive aide I got to work with various different projects and assignments in a high pace and stimulating environment. Early on, I was thrown into challenging situations and was given a great deal of responsibility and trust. The position gave me invaluable in-depth insights of how the industry works, both strategically, financially and structurally. Concurrently with my job as executive aide I got the opportunity to be part a small broking team, which gave me complementary insurance broking skills as well as exposure to both clients and markets.

After almost 2 years as executive aide I transferred to JLT’s Strategic Growth team where I now reside. As I early on expressed a particular interest in strategy, I was grateful when I got the chance to work in this team.

I graduated from Exeter University in 2005 with a BSc in Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research.  After a couple of years working in retail I applied and was accepted for a job with JLT in the Administration division in Exeter. 

I was particularly interested in JLT as I was focused on using my background in Mathematics to pursue a career as an Actuary. I felt that experience in Administration would be highly valuable and would help me achieve my future goal. In my first year at JLT I was heavily involved in the setup of a new calculations team, utilising an in house calculation system. 

I was fortunate that at the end of my first year I was promoted to the role of Senior Administrator on the calculations team.  Working on the calculations team was an excellent experience as I, and all other members of the team, were encouraged to be innovative when solving problems.

It was also a team that worked across all schemes in the office, which enabled me to learn a variety of different skills and build excellent relationships. After a couple of years of building my administration knowledge, I joined the Actuarial Delivery team. However, I soon realised that I preferred my previous job in my old team.   In 2009 I was given the pleasure of managing the calculations team, which was now more diverse, and included Validator work as well as new projects. This was an amazing opportunity as I was able to nurture a team of excellent individuals who worked superbly together.  After working on many projects within Exeter and the wider Administration I was lucky enough to be trained on Lean Six Sigma in Mumbai, which subsequently took me to another new role within the Central Projects and Change Team.

The main project that I was tasked to complete was JLTI migrations and operational issues. As the role was better suited to a position back in Administration so I moved back to the newly formed Operational Solutions team which serve the whole of EB operations. I thoroughly enjoy working on this team; there are many exceptional people and a huge breadth of tasks to complete. All of my experiences in the variety of teams I have worked in have helped me learn and develop new skills and I look forward to my future at JLT.

Christina Alexander

Global Mobility Manager at JLT, Management Services

After leaving college, I went straight into workplace and began developing my career.  My career to date has been varied and interesting with a mix of financial services and professional services and now insurance.  I joined JLT in the summer of 2014 as the Global Mobility Manager.

Prior to joining JLT, I was the Global Talent Development Senior Manager at Ernst & Young (EY) for almost 12 years.   The Global Mobility Manager position attracted me as it would allow me the freedom to make a real difference to developing JLT’s global workforce through international experience.  JLT empowers their employees to be innovative and creative in their roles and this is a philosophy that was very appealing to me, along with the ability to drive a more strategic focus to international mobility.

JLT is embarking on a broader global remit and for that to happen, we need our talent to be at the right place at the right time, to service and grow our business, it's an exciting time for someone like me in a global mobility role!

Working for JLT Management Services is an exciting challenge. JLT MS is the integral cog in the wheel that keeps the JLT wheels turning and the role that all Management Services employees play is key to helping JLT as a whole deliver to our clients.
